I was invigilating exams in the morning not too far from Brechfa, so headed off to the forest after lunch for a quick spin around the Raven Trail.

The last time I did it was with a biggish group and it was horribly muddy, some of the climbs were near impossible and it took us over 3 and a half hours.

Today was much better. Many of the muddy climbs have been resurfaced. They are still pretty brutal but at least the surface is better now and they look as though they will drain OK too. They do drag on and I had to use my small chain-ring more than usual, but I guess that's why the trail is graded black.

The first half of the ride certainly seemed to involve a lot of climbing. The second half was good though, lots of nice single track, little jumps off the huge tabletops and a nice log ride. Great fun!

And it only took just over and hour and a half this time!
